INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

For the internship, students will work about 20 hours a week at a news media organization either on or off campus.

  • Students may negotiate either paid or unpaid internships with the host organization.
  • In some cases, stipends will be available to partly support students participating in off-campus internships.

Internships are an opportunity to obtain practical experience and to apply classroom instruction to a real world environment.  They also provide students with a chance to work with news media professionals and to begin constructing a network of professional acquaintances.  Past internship partners have included the Bryan- College Station Eagle, Austin American-Statesman, Brazos Valley Insite Magazine, CNN Newsource, FOX Sports Net Southwest, KBTX-TV, KRLD Newsradio, New York Daily News, Smithsonian National Museum of American History and The George Bush Presidential Library and MuseumThe Battalion, A&M’s student newspaper, also has developed an internship program for students enrolled in the minor.

Please Note:  All students who hope to complete an internship for academic credit under Journalism 484, Internship, must have prior approval from Dr. Randall Sumpter, Director of Journalism Studies
