The final course in the curriculum,
Journalism as a Profession, is designed as a capstone experience
for students, who will work closely with the program’s
professional Journalists-In Residence to produce four publication-quality
projects.
- These projects will draw upon all previous journalism
instruction received by the student, the student’s
education in the liberal arts, and the expert mentoring
of news media professionals who have taken time out from
their media jobs to work with A&M students.
- The 2007 Journalists-in-Residence were: Roy Bragg, San Antonio Express-News; Sue Owen, Austin American-Statesman; and Kathleen McElroy, the New York Times. The 2006 Journalists-in-Residence were: Anthony Wilson, San Angelo Standard-Times; Dina Temple-Raston, author of A Death in Texas and Justice on the Grass; Rolando Santos, CNN; and Rob Clark, Quick (Dallas Morning News). Three of the four Journalists-in-Residence who participated in the Spring 2005
semester are members
of the Advisory
Board. The 2005 Journalists-in-Residence were:
Thomas DeFrank, New
York Daily News; Kelly Brown, Bryan-College
Station Eagle; Michael Landauer, Dallas Morning
News; and Loren Steffy, Houston Chronicle.
